September Wedding with Farm-to-table Cuisine In Ct
When the bride is a dietician, natural foods chef, and also founder of the popular Crunchy Radish blog, you know the wedding food is going to be delish! Miranda and Andrew put a great deal of thought into their September 2014 wedding, including finding the perfect setting, which ended up being the picturesque organic White Gate Farm in East Lyme, Conn. It had everything they wanted: plenty of room for a tent, expansive lawns, and even a lake!
Working with wedding planner Josh Chalmers of Earth 2 Events, the couple masterminded a wedding day that perfectly blended rustic and elegant elements. The lush but polished florals by Hana Floral Design punctuated linen-free farm tables, while the family-style dinner – prepared by caterer A Thyme to Cook with as much local ingredients as possible – was served on vintage-inspired floral plates. The day was rainy, but the weather actually created a more intimate feel under the tent for both the ceremony and dinner, notes the bride.
Guests danced underneath glowing Asian lanterns to a live band and then, after the final dance, they were transported to the Old Lyme Inn for an after party with more dancing, burgers, and fries.
